Useful Pre-Testing tools

Testing Tools:

• BITS << coming soon... >> - BITS is owned by BACnet International and is built upon the original VTS open source version.
  
  
• Visual Test Shell (VTS) - an open source test product for BACnet.
  
  
• Oscilloscope – The Pico ADC 200 is the official test tools used by the BTL to verify MS/TP data link layers.
  
  
• MS/TP serial port analyzer: Visual Breakout 5.0 DOS – must be used on a Windows 98 machine in DOS mode.
  
  
• ASHRAE Standard 135.1-2003 – Method of Test for Conformance to BACnet® (ANSI Approved)
  Contains tests specified by ASHRAE that are used to certify a BACnet device.

Reference Routers:

Any BTL Tested and Listed router may be used as a reference router.

Reference Master:

Any BTL Tested and Listed MS/TP Master device may be used as a reference master.

General
The program creates EPICS-files of BACnet devices which are needed to perform conformity tests. The input of the data is done on basis of input dialogs. This program is a tool to reduce the efforts needed to create EPICS-files. The correctness of the input values is not checked.

Installation of the program by unzipping the file ’EPICSWiz.zip’ in a new folder. The subfolders will be generated automatically.

Start the program by opening the file „wizard.exe".

The main routines of the program are „create a new EPICS file" and „open EPICS file". These can be started by activating the buttons in the main window of the program.

File extension To work with the EPICS-Wizard the following file extensions are defined:
„.tpi" : EPICS-file
„.dev": Data of the objects of the device which are displayed in the section "list of objects of the test device" will be stored in these files. Extensive data can be stored intermediate to avoid the loss of data when system or program crashes. Data of similar devices can be copied into the new device to reduce the time needed for EPICS generation.

* There are some known issues with the EPICS file created from the EPICS Wizard. You will need to edit the EPICS file created in order to change the output to match the 135.1 specification and to allow it to load into the latest version of VTS.
