Andy McMillan, President & Managing Director


Andy McMillan is President and Managing Director of BACnet International, where he works with users and suppliers to expand and enhance the BACnet community. Formerly he served as president and general manager of an building automation unit of Philips Lighting. McMillan’s background includes broad open systems industry development and marketing experience, as well as strong technical knowledge of distributed automation and information management systems. McMillan has co-founded several companies and has been a featured speaker on open systems and automation at conferences in North America, Europe, Japan and Australia. McMillan co-authored a book on open systems networking and holds a dozen patents in sensors, automation and software. He has MBA and BSEE degrees from the University of Michigan and is a member of ASHRAE, AEE, IEEE.




Dennis Swoboda, Blue Ridge Technologies (Chair) 

Dennis Swoboda is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Blue Ridge Technologies, a manufacturer of Native BACnet lighting control solutions designed for open communication with most building automation systems.  In his role, Swoboda oversees global sales and marketing initiatives for the sale and installation of Blue Ridge Technologies lighting control systems. In addition, he works with engineers, end users, owners and controls contractors to help lower life cycle costs, increase energy savings, and reduce carbon emissions by taking control of the largest energy loads in a building.  Swoboda has over 20 years of lighting control experience, and gives frequent talks and presentations on energy codes, lighting, and BACnet. He has been a member of BACnet International for almost a decade, and has previously served as the BACnet International marketing committee chair.


 Paul Bartunek, ABB

Paul L. Bartunek, III is the Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing for ABB Drives USA.  ABB is an international pioneering technology leader in developing and deploying energy efficient products and systems that are transforming industry in globally sustainable ways.  With over 25+ years of experience in the electronic manufacturing industry and a demonstrated history of successful relationship building, Bartunek is a skilled development professional.  In his role, Bartunek leads sales and marketing initiatives for the commercial family of variable frequency drive products.  He has impact with mergers and acquisitions, new product development, team building, and creating energy efficient solutions for customers. 



James Burke, Johnson Controls

James Burke has been with Johnson Controls for more than 15 years, establishing a strong track record of success with positions of increasing responsibility throughout his tenure. In his current role as Vice President and General Manager of Building Automation Systems, Burke is responsible for growing the building automation systems business globally. He oversees the product lifecycle through the development of a comprehensive product roadmap and execution of the product strategy for the Metasys, Facility Explorer, BCPro and Verasys platforms.



Brad Hill, Honeywell International

Brad Hill is working as a Global Director of Project Management for Honeywell Building Technologies where he is involved in leading the new product development of commercial building offerings. Hill joined Honeywell in 1990 where he was involved in the design and programming of complex integrated control solutions for large projects. He began involvement with BACnet in 1996 through the need to integrate BACnet devices into building management systems. In 1999, Hill began product development work which included the development of a BACnet operator workstation, where he acquired a deep knowledge of the BACnet standard, after which time he continued on to manage and then lead building management product developments. Hill is the VP of the BACnet Interest Group – Europe, and holds an MBA, MES (Energy Studies), BCompSc (Hons), and a DipElecEng.


Raj Jayaraman, Burton Medical

Raj Jayaraman currently serves as the President of Burton Medical, a leader in medical lighting applications.  Prior to joining Burton Medical, Jayaraman was Vice President of Philips Lighting, where he amassed over 30 years of experience in the lighting and electrical products industries. He has held a variety of executive positions in R&D, Lean Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing and General Management.  Jayaraman was deeply involved in the connected lighting strategy and business at Philips Lighting, and also had extensive experience with M&A activities there.  He received his PhD from MIT in Microelectronics and holds 9 patents.


Erica Johnson, QA Cafe (Vice Chair) 

Erica Johnson is the Chief Executive Officer at QA Cafe, a dynamic software company providing test and analysis solutions to the broadband, consumer, and enterprise networking communities. In this position she utilizes her industry experience in networking and data communications to oversee the operations of the company as well as deliver on strategies for continued growth. Prior to joining QA Cafe, she was the Director of the University of New Hampshire’s InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) in Durham, NH, for over 10 years. In recognition of her ability to drive technical innovation, Johnson has been recognized by NH Business Review as a recipient of the 2016 Outstanding Women in Business award, Fierce Telecom’s list of “Women in Wireline”, and was awarded, by the University of New Hampshire, the UNH Women’s Commission’s Stephanie Thomas Staff Award in honor of her achievements in promoting and embodying the advancement of women in the sciences. She received her Bachelor of Computer Science and MBA from the University of New Hampshire in 2001 and 2011, respectively.


Raymond Rae, CopperTree Analytics

Raymond Rae co-founded and is an active principal in CopperTree Analytics, ESC Automation and Delta Connects.  Raymond also co-founded Delta Controls, a full line manufacturer of native BACnet Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems for building automation systems and which is now a part of the Delta Group under Delta Electronics Inc.   Raymond has been an active supporter of BACnet since its inception, serving on the board of directors and/or contributing to BMA, BIG-NA, BIG-CA, BIG-CN and BI.  Raymond has enjoyed more than 45 years in the HVAC industry and has an extensive background, which includes: energy auditing, computerized building simulations, system commissioning, controls, engineering, product certifications, design and marketing. He has been a member of ASHRAE since 1984.


Nancy Stein

Nancy Stein was a Business Excellence Manager for Siemens Industry Inc.  In her role, Stein was responsible for program management of strategic initiatives for the Control Products and Systems Business Unit.  Stein had been with Siemens for over 30 years in sales, product marketing, and management positions.  She has a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue and an MBA from DePaul University.


Michael R Wilson, Automated Logic

Michael Wilson is the Product Marketing and Sales Operations Manager for Automated Logic Corporation (ALC). During his tenure in product marketing, Wilson has been responsible for driving product strategy and direction. He also has been intimately involved in a number of new product ideas and development efforts and has been closely aligned with customer needs and requirements.  Preceding this role, Wilson was the Business Development Manager of both the OEMCtrl and Lumisys divisions of ALC. 


Prior to ALC, Wilson worked for the CIOs of Delta Air Lines and The Home Depot as a presentation consultant. At BACnet International, Wilson has served as the marketing committee chair, a member of the steering committee, and is currently serving as the Chairman of the Board. His leadership and contributions have been recognized by BACnet International on many occasions, where he has won awards for "always coming to the rescue," for being, "an individual who exhibits outstanding leadership,” and as "Volunteer of the Year.

Natalie Nardone, CAE, CMP - Association Manager

Natalie Nardone, CAE, CMP has over 15 years experience in association and event management. Prior to joining BACnet International in 2005, she was the Director of Education and Conventions for Georgia Automobile Dealers Association and a sales manager for two hotels and a conference center in Augusta, GA. Her experience is invaluable in project deployment and strategic discussion involving multiple decision makers.

Natalie is the Association Manager of BACnet International and is a proud member of Meeting Professionals International Georgia Chapter (GaMPI) and the Georgia Society for Association Executives (GSAE). In addition, she is the 2006 recipient of Meeting Professionals International’s (MPI) International Tomorrow’s Leader Award and GaMPI’s Meeting Planner of Year Award.

In 2006, Natalie earned her Master of Science degree in Information Design and Communications. She has published several articles in the area of association and event management for industry and trade publications. She holds both Certified Association Executive (CAE) and Certified Meeting Professionals (CMP) designations.



David Nardone - Regional Manager

David (Dave) Nardone is an Atlanta native that focuses his time on membership and trade show management for BACnet International. Prior to joining the association, Dave was in facilities and materials management for over ten years in the medical industry. He is the primary point of contact for our members, accounts receivable, is a contributing writer/editor, and attends all trade shows on behalf of BACnet International.


Michelle Eriquez - The BACnet Institute Manager

Michelle Eriquez has been working at BACnet International since August 2016, spearheading its educational program initiatives.


Before joining BACnet International, Michelle spent over 20 years in product development and management, working for a diverse range of organizations, including HD Supply, International Greetings and American College of Rheumatology. Michelle earned her Master of Business Administration in Marketing at Georgia State University, and her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing at University of Georgia.


Patricia Bagley - Association Accountant

Patricia Bagley earned her BBA in Accounting from Kennesaw State University and has since been working in the private industry in the metro Atlanta area for over 20 years.  Her past roles/experience vary from budgeting, payroll, human resources, accounting manager, corporate accountant and controller.  Patricia is responsible for the overall accounting and reporting for BACnet International. 

Kelsey (Battle) List - Senior Association Coordinator

Kelsey (Battle) List joined the BACnet International team in June 2017 as an Association Assistant. Prior to working with BACnet International she held various roles of increasing responsibility in the event planning field.


Kelsey graduated from Young Harris College with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Public Policy, and immediately upon graduation went to work for Presenting Atlanta, a large destination meeting planning company. Following her time there, she held various positions at two Atlanta area Marriott hotels starting as a convention coordinator and including banquet lead, captain, supervisor, Red Coat, AV tech, and event administrator. Kelsey then switched to the sales side and worked as the catering sales coordinator while also serving both Marriott locations as Children’s Miracle Network Champion.


Kelsey was promoted to Event Manager at the Alpharetta Marriott, where over the course of two years she managed over 650 corporate and social events ranging from 1 to 800 attendees.


Emily Hayes – BTL Manager, Certifications and Listings Manager

Emily Hayes began work with BACnet International in 2014 as BTL-Coordinator, coordinating BTL Testing at the BTL Lab. In 2017, Emily took over leadership of the BTL Working Group as chair. Additionally, she led the transition from the BTL Listing Program to the BTL Certification Program. She became BTL Manager in January 2019.


Emily has a wide variety of experience and leadership in career and volunteer situations. These experiences range from IC chip design, department management, and project management at IBM to business ownership to teacher, Girl Scout leader and leadership in many volunteer organizations. Emily maintains professional membership in the Project Management Institute (PMI), North Carolina Chapter of PMI (NCPMI), and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers IEEE. Emily has a BEE from Auburn University and an MSEE from Duke University. She has maintained a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification since 2010.


Carl Neilson – BTL Technical Advisor

Carl Neilson has spent the majority of his professional career developing building automation products. For most of this time, he has also been actively involved in the BACnet community on numerous technical BACnet related committees. As Carl embarks on his second career as a sailing instructor, he splits his time between bobbing about in the Pacific Northwest and acting as BACnet International's Technical Advisor and supporting the larger BACnet community.
