BACnet International Announces Support for Integrated Building Automation Association in India (INBAC)

New Open Building Automation Association in India Gains International Support though BACnet International

BACnet International has announced its support for the launch of a new association in India called “INBAC.”  The new association is intended to facilitate the development of an ecosystem of suppliers, users, government and standards-making bodies in India to establish building automation standards that promote interoperability. The intent of INBAC is to leverage existing ISO global standards for building automation. In addition, INBAC will identify unique needs of the Indian market and work to have those addressed through the global standardization process.

The INBAC association has been in development for over a year and has established connections to a broad set of building automation leaders in India. The association has already established a core working group and a technical working group. The initial campaign to recruit corporate members in multiple categories will begin soon.

“We are happy to see an association focused on standards-based open automation emerge in India,” stated Andy McMillan, president and managing director of BACnet International. “With a rapidly expanding economy and an ambitious infrastructure plan, India will greatly benefit from adopting global ISO standards like BACnet for their intelligent building and smart city initiatives.”

For more information on INBAC, contact Sakhee Chandrayan, president of INBAC, at sakhee@inbac.org.

About BACnet International

BACnet International is an industry association that facilitates the successful use of the BACnet protocol in building automation and control systems through interoperability testing, educational programs and promotional activities. BACnet International oversees operation of the BACnet Testing Labs (BTL) and maintains a global listing of tested products. The BACnet standard was developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and has been made publicly available so that manufacturers can create interoperable systems of products. BACnet International complements the work of the ASHRAE standards committee and BACnet-related interest groups around the world. BACnet International members include building owners, consulting engineers and facility managers, as well as companies involved in the design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and maintenance of control equipment that uses BACnet for communication.
